NAC Statement Regarding Letter Of Public Protector Dated 6 August 2025

MEDIA STATEMENT: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                   09 August 2025

The National Arts Council of South Africa (NAC) has noted the letter from the Office of Public Protector South Africa (PPSA) dated 6 August 2025.

During the Council meeting convened on 30 July 2025, Council Members were apprised of and deliberated on the allegations brought against organisational functionaries, noting that these matters are not new to the NAC. The Council wishes to place on record that the allegations remain vague in nature and are without adequate particulars.

Nonetheless, the Council welcomes this investigation and views it as an opportunity to provide assistance to the Public Protector in fulfilling their constitutional mandate by supplying all necessary information to address the allegations raised.

As a public entity, the NAC remains steadfast in upholding the fundamental principles of accountability, transparency, and good governance. We are committed to extending our full cooperation and providing support to the Office of the Public Protector to ensure the investigation proceeds expeditiously and effectively.

The NAC reaffirms its unwavering commitment to preserving public trust and serving the arts and culture sector with the highest standards of integrity.
