ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE MINISTER’S SECONDMENT OF
NEW INTERIM CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
MEDIA STATEMENT: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 30 JUNE 2025
The National Arts Council of South Africa (NAC) wishes to announce the conclusion of Ms Julie Diphofa’s tenure as NAC Interim Chief Executive Officer. The NAC commends her leadership in advancing the organization’s mandate and supporting the arts sector during her period of service. The Council expresses its utmost appreciation for her dedicated stewardship of the institution.
At its recent meeting, the Council approved the commencement of the regulatory process to appoint a permanent Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer. To ensure seamless continuity of leadership throughout this process, and at the Council’s request, the Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, the Honourable Gayton McKenzie, has approved the secondment of Mr Lebogang Mogoera as the new Interim Chief Executive Officer of the NAC for the duration of the appointment process effective 1 July 2025.
Mr Mogoera joins us from his current role as Chief Director: Infrastructure Support at the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (DSAC), bringing with him extensive experience in infrastructure development and institutional support. His expertise and commitment will be invaluable as we maintain momentum on key initiatives and uphold our mandate to support South Africa’s arts sector.
Please join us in thanking Ms Julie Diphofa for her exemplary service, and in wishing Mr Lebogang Mogoera every success in his role as Interim Chief Executive Officer. We are confident that, under his leadership, the NAC will continue to serve the arts community with excellence and integrity.
