It is with great sadness to learn of the passing of Legendary musician, songwriter, and former member of Sankomota, Tshepo Tshola who was affectionately known as “the village pope”.

Born in Lesotho, Tshola touched many South Africans with his distinct voice and music throughout the years and became a household name with his iconic 1994 debut album “The Village Pope”.

Tshola also wowed audiences across international stages. He will be remembered next to the likes of Hugh Masekela, Steve Kekana, Jonas Gwangwa and Miriam Makeba. May his family, friends, and fellow colleagues find comfort and peace in this difficult time.
