Closing date extended: 20 September 2021
Outcomes date: 05 December 2021
The National Arts Council South Africa (NAC) is pleased to announce a new call for arts and culture applications for the 2021/2022 financial year. We hereby invite arts practitioners and registered arts organisations to apply for funding. Only one application will be supported from both a natural person (individual) and a juristic person (organisation/company). Projects should demonstrate the ability to be sustainable over a period of time.
The invitation is open to practitioners who are active in the disciplines of craft, dance, literature, multidiscipline, music, theatre and visual arts to submit their applications for project funding. In each of the seven (7) arts disciplines above, the project must have capability to address at least two (2) of the six (6) critical focus areas below:
- Social cohesion and Nation Building;
- Unearthing marginalised and indigenous arts in rural areas;
- Addressing social ills such as xenophobia, and gender-based violence;
- Supporting the involvement of women, youth employment opportunities and people living with disabilities;
- Creation of new works through digital media; and
- Capacity Building and Arts Entrepreneurship.
This call appeals to arts practitioners to present projects that can continue to educate, entertain, and enlighten audiences during the Covid-19 pandemic. The NAC is at the forefront of supporting the arts in South Africa and is thus presenting an opportunity to the sector to reconsider the mode of presenting their art products in the face of Covid-19 and beyond. Prevailing conditions of Covid – 19 Regulations will be applicable from time to time.
Proposed projects must demonstrate impact and value for the communities in which they operate.
The minimum budget allocation for applications is R50 000. The maximum amount applied for should not be in excess of R350 000. The allocation will be in line with redress and transformation imperatives of the NAC.
Applications must be submitted on or before Monday, 20 September 2021 at 17h00. Applicants need to register and complete the online application form using the following link: https://nac.praxisgms.co.za/. Manual applications can be requested from info@nac.org.za. This manual service is reserved only for those that have lack of access to internet services.
Please note that late and incomplete applications will not be considered and no exceptions will be made. Applications requesting less than the minimum funding budget allocation, or more than the maximum allocation budget as indicated above will also not be considered. Funding guidelines can be downloaded from www.nac.org.za. For more information, contact info@nac.org.za. The NAC reserves the right to allocate funds according to its priorities. No applicant is automatically entitled to funding. All funding is at the discretion of the NAC.
