After a year-long hiatus, the Bassline Live at the Lyric Theatre, is back. Bringing fans of real live music experience, what they’ve been missing through the last year. Bassline Live is reviving in the form of a three-concert series in the month of May. Ami Faku, Msaki and Zoë Modiga will be on stage at The Lyric Theatre at Johannesburg’s Gold Reef City on the 8th, 15th and 22nd of May respectively. Tickets are available at Computicket starting from R200 and the venue will host 250 people per show as per Covid 19 safety regulations.
This series is supported by the National Arts Council’s Department of Sport, Arts & Culture’s PESP Stream 2 employment stimulus package. Says Brad Holmes of Bassline Live “We are breathing a sigh of relief and are excited to once again be doing what we love to do, and that’s live, quality, original and proudly African music. “
” With the focus of this 3-concert series being development of the music industry and employment, Bassline has hand-picked artists who are seriously on the rise and some who are soon to be rising stars.” Holmes explains. “In keeping with the Bassline’s long-standing relationships and shows with our South African Diva’s, since 1994, from Miriam Makeba, Dolly Rathebe, Thandie Klaasen, Busi Mhlongo, Simphiwe Dana, Lira, Thandiswa Mazwai to the recently late Sibongile Khumalo, who have all graced our stages, from the Melville Jazz Club to the Newtown Concert Hall and over the past 4 years Live at the Lyric Theatre, Bassline will be continuing its support for our Divas by headlining three female songbirds who are all unique in their own right Ami Faku, Msaki & Zoë Modiga” In support of these sisters of song are Urban Village and emerging artists Moonga K & ZU.
The series of concerts kicks off on the 8th May, with the second on the 15th and the last of three on the 22nd May 2021.
Showcased in the quintessential quality that the Bassline live at the Lyric has become known as, music performance in a state of the art, staging, sound and lighting experience.
