In the North West Province, Seabe Communication Group began as a small collective of creatives; a chef, fashion designer and muso.
Seeing the need for art-centered events and proper management for creatives in Mafikeng, we have grown to have a mentorship programme. We have successfully hosted a mobile exhibition and are mentored by Baz Art who manage the Cape Town International Mural Festival.
Having received funding for a mural festival, all the artists in the community were invited to a public art installation through the medium of graffiti.
The aim of the project is to give local artists in the community exposure. A vlog shows the 40+ participants (employees) taking art to the people, beautifying Mafikeng and their work being sent to mural festivals around the world.
We want the event to become an annual event where eventually one can do a tour in Mafikeng of murals. We are also partnering up with other festivals around where we can exchange ideas with other artists.
