Passing of the internationally acclaimed trumpeter and jazz musician

It is with great sadness to inform you about the passing of the internationally acclaimed trumpeter and jazz musician, Dr Brian Thusi.

His journey marks one of his charitable milestones were he founded a music centre for the historically disadvantaged youth in Durban in 1986. He later bestowed performances and recordings in the music industry where he worked with well-known musicians such as Mbongeni Ngema, Malcolm Darius Brubeck, Victor Ntoni, Lulu Gontsana, Kenny Baron, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Caiphus Semenya, the late Hugh Masekela, Sipho Gumede and many others. The NAC would like to send its sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Dr Thusi passed following a kidney failure at Durban's St Augustine’s Hospital on Tuesday night (31st July 2018).
