Call For Nominations For The NAC Advisory Panel Members To Serve From 1 July 2018 To 30 June 2021

The National Arts Council finds itself at a critical juncture in reinventing itself to remain relevant in an ever-changing sector and following a strategic realignment process, the NAC is proud to announce its strategic move from a discipline-based approach to and introduce a programmatic approach to funding which will see funding allocation to beneficiaries located within specified programmes instead of individual disciplines.

The National Arts Council of South Africa hereby invites all competent, suitably qualified and interested persons to serve as members of the NAC Advisory Panel for a period of three (3) years from 1 July 2018 to 30 June 2021. The members of the NAC Panels are required to have knowledge and expertise in at least three (3) or more art forms catered for by the NAC, namely, craft, dance, literature, multi-discipline, theatre, music and visual arts. The invitation is made for the Panel members to serve in the following programmes: Social Cohesion and Nation Building; Innovation, Design and Creation of New Work; Capacity Building; Strategic Initiatives; Platforms, Exhibitions and Festivals.

Requirements: Members must have achieved distinction or have special knowledge, expertise and experience in the fields required. International experience, proficiency in African languages as well as knowledge and expertise in indigenous art forms will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities: Members shall fulfil the statutory role to advise the Council on the merits of applications for funding and on any matter relating to the fields of the arts to which he/she is appointed to. The advisory panel members will be required to assess applications and make recommendations to Council. In addition, the advisory panel members should advise Council on policy matters relating to the arts.

Members shall be nominated by any member of the public. Nominators are required to submit a detailed motivation for the nominee, curriculum vitae of the nominee and a letter of acceptance from the nominated candidate.

Closing date for all nominations will be 30 May 2018 at 4pm.

Please note that late nominations will not be considered and no exceptions will be made. If you have not heard from the NAC within two months of the closing date, consider your submission as unsuccessful and no further correspondence will be entered into.
