NAC announces Project funding and International bursaries outcomes

During the project and bursary funding session which closed in March 2012, the NAC received 1169 applications from individuals and arts organisation across all nine provinces

Applications went through a rigorous selection process during which each application was reviewed by Advisory Panels appointed in the various arts disciplines and recommended projects to be supported to the Executive Committee and Council of the NAC. The recommendations emanating from the panels and EXCO were approved at the Council meeting of May 18, 2012.

The NAC strategic plan goals for the next five years are to make substantive contributions to redress and transformation in the arts, and also to promote audience and youth development. Monica Newton, NAC CEO said that “the NAC continues to fulfil its grant funding mandate and have successfully completed the first funding session for this financial year. A wide range of projects and individuals have been granted funds in support of educational opportunities, community development through the arts and, of course, artistic excellence. We thank all applicants for taking the time and effort to submit applications to us, and look forward to working with the projects and individuals who have been successful. For those who did not receive funding, we encourage you to contact the office and attend our regional workshops for advice and guidance. ”

A list of successful applications has been published on the NAC website at www.nac.org.za. The next call for applications will be in September 2012 for local bursaries.
