Ms Erica Megan Elk

Erica Elk is the executive director of the Cape Craft & Design Institute (CCDI), which she was appointed to establish in November 2001, following a provincial government research study into the needs of the craft and design sector.

A combination of practitioner, implementer and strategist, she has worked for the National Land Committee (media officer), artist William Kentridge (studio assistant), Rapid Phase Group (creators of Madam & Eve cartoon), radio drama Soul City, Gauteng Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Environment (Cradle of Humandkind masterplanning), and the Department of Land Affairs and the Ministry of Land and Agriculture (media liaison). She currently sits on the board of Cape Town Design, the city’s World Design Capital 2014 implementation company.

Elk has a Post Graduate Diploma in Fine Arts from Michaelis School of Fine Art at the University of Cape Town, a BA Fine Arts (Honours) Degree from WITS and a Teacher’s Diploma in Speech & Drama from Trinity College of Music, UK.
